0-499 IMP Pairs with Live Expert Review

Do you have less than 500 masterpoints? We have an event for you: 0-499 IMP Pair League!
The CBF is organizing a series of online games this winter for players with between 0 and 499 masterpoints. Each session is 14 boards, followed by a 30-minute live review, where participants can ask questions in real time and hear a Canadian expert discuss the hands that were just played. Masterpoints will be awarded!

2026 Canadian Bridge Championships

(Feb. 3.) All Round Robin matches will be held online on RealBridge, and the playoffs of all team events will be played in Penticton, BC. June 15 -21, 2026, (in parallel with the Penticton Regional). The COPC will be held on RealBridge, scheduled April 25-26, 2026.

In Memoriam – Doug Drew, Founding Member of the CBF

You remember Doug Drew. He was one of the six founding members of the Canadian Bridge Federation, and the first Canadian President of ACBL in 1984. From 1957 until 1997, Doug continuously held elected office serving on the Ontario Unit Board. He was a Hall of Fame member.

Canadian Bidding Contest: March 2026 Problems

You can review the last set of problems in the December 2025 issue of Bridge Canada, along with the answers and comments from the panel of experts. Danny Miles was the only panelist to score a perfect 50. Our top reader score was Gary Booth, followed closely by Sheldon Spiers
Enter the contest and send your answers to the March 2026 problems to Neil Kimelman (editor@cbf.ca) by February 7th. The panellists' answers and comments will be published in the March of Bridge Canada.

Sandra and Doug Fraser Elected to the Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame committee has elected Sandra and Doug Fraser as the 2026 inductees to the Canadian Bridge Hall of Fame. Both Sandra and Doug are ACBL Grand Life Masters, and WBF World Masters who represented Canada on many occasions in world championships. 
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in Penticton, BC during the 2026 Canadian Championships (June 15 - 21).

Erin Berry Rookie-Master Game – 2025 Champions

Congratulations to Rick Jenkins and Cheryl Forth (MO Community Bridge Club), National Winners of the 2025 Erin Berry Rookie-Master. They scored 69.44%, followed by Len Hynes - Rosemary MacDonell and Donald Kersey - Marlo Whitehead. Continue reading to see the top 25 in Canada, and the top per zone and per club.
The CBF holds two Rookie-Master games each year: Helen Shields (Spring) and Erin Berry (Fall). Bridge clubs can register by completing the form under the Club Managers menu. Next Rookie-Master Game will be on Aprl 13, 2026.

President’s Message – September 2025

I am extremely happy to see that our Canadian Clubs and players are excited about our Maple Leaf game initiative, a way that we can build community between Canadians and with our friends in other countries. We invite you to participate in the AGM on September 16, the Fall Online Team League. And dot to forget the Canadian Team Championships, whose round robin will take place online in January and February. We welcome Lois Matton (Zone 5) and Sondra Blank (Executive Director).
