December 2024
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!. As another year comes to an end, your CBF Board of Directors would like to wish you Happy Holidays and all the best for 2025! As part of our mission, the CBF Board of Directors have been busy working hard throughout the year to reengage our members, promote bridge in Canada and provide the competitive forum required to choose the best of the best to represent Canada on the world stage. It has been a challenge, but we are listening and will continue to work tirelessly to improve and evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our members in the post-pandemic bridge world.
The Board intends to provide periodic updates to keep you informed of various items of interest to the members.

The Great Canadian Bidding Contest: September 2024 Problems

In the June 2024 issue of Bridge Canada, you can review the last set of problems, along with the answers and comments of the expert panel. The whole panel were tightly bunched with scores in the high forties, but Mike Hargreaves (49) and David Turner (48) nipped the rest of the panel. Welcome Ben Zaidenberg to our June panel! Ben, a former representative of Canada when a Junior, is returning to more active playing. Ashot Harutyunyan had the best reader score for June.
Play along! Email your answers to the September problems by August 11th to Neil Kimelman (editor@cbf.ca). Have fun!

Eric Kokish on Sorry Partner Podcast

The latest episode of the Sorry Partner Podcast features Eric Kokish. He will discuss what it's like being a world class bridge coach and what it feels like sitting at the table while people are playing the convention named after you! You can listen on sorrypartner.com or on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Stitcher etc.
We have just received the very sad news that Eric Kokish has passed away, the day after the podcast aired. He was one of Canada's great bridge players and theorists. He is in the ACBL and CBF Hall of Fame.
